The event is planned for January 29 - 31. Click here for a set of maps.

As information becomes more available, it would appear that Galen Wagner, a former Battalion member, is organizing a contingent of Federals that may number as many as 100 soldiers in 3 companies. Their plan, as I understand it, is to be campaign and stay down across the bridge.

Meanwhile, the PLHA isn't defunct after all and are gathering men to do a Confederate campaign impression in the works as they've done in years past.

I'm not sure who the point man (or woman) is for the event. Maybe someone could post or send me a note as to who it might be.

Note: There was another topic posted for Rivers Bridge that I deleted. It began with outdated info. Then it continued with unrelated info and began selling stuff. If your post was erased, then please post again in the correct place.

Man, I miss Robbie. It's not going to seem right without him there.

Tom and other interested parties,

Rick Davis is the president of the 25th and I am the secretary; either one of us can field questions. Post here or contact one of us and we'll do our best to respond quickly.

The basics--yes, Galen felt the federal numbers were too lopsided last year so he is heading up a significant group of campaigner types. Otherwise, not much has changed. We still encourage everyone to pack light and be as accurate as possible given the time and place. Jenny's will again be open for business albeit with an emptiness that can't be expressed.

In order to present everyone's favorite event it will be necessary to charge adult reenactors $5.00 registration. We truly hope this will not be an imposition but is really unavoidable.

Soldiers planning to be in the works should plan on working to improve them.

Artillery are welcome but only full scale pieces will be allowed in the works. Other pieces may be placed in the demo and camp areas.

Questions and concerns should be directed to me. Hope to see you there!

The numbers for the federal contingent are up in the air at this point.

I hope to field at least a company of troops (25-30)

More as we get closer.

Is there a schedule for the event yet. What times are the battles on Sat and Sunday?

Battle will be at 2:00 both days. Camps will be open to the public 9-5 Saturday, 9-3 Sunday.
NO VEHICLES IN CAMP FROM 8 AM SATURDAY TO 3 PM SUNDAY!

The only other scheduled activities are Church service Sunday. Usually 10:00 but if they do the memorial at the state park it may be pushed back to 11:00.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Sherry.

In addition to being the usual great event, River's Bridge is also the deadline for stories and pictures for the book.
If you have a story or picture for the Battalion book you need to email it to me as soon as you can.

IMPORTANT - Everyone attending Rivers' Bridge 2010 please read:

We have made a few changes in the layout of the camps at River’s Bridge this year so please check the map at registration so you will be in the correct area. Please do not just go to your ‘regular’ spot. Also, we will be charging $5 per adult reenactor.

We look forward to a great event but as always, prepare for typical bad weather.

Confederate Camp Company streets will be laid out on the 1865 side between the church and the breastworks. Tentage will be allowed but only A-frames or dog tents; wall tents for officers only. PLHA/47th GA no change—left works. There will be portalets in the woods past Jenny’s.

Federal Camp No change – below the works to the right. Campaigner group will be to the left.

Provost Will be on the left as you approach and face the foot bridge.

Artillery As you drive towards the back of the front area, you will be on the right, next to the ravine, before you get to the footbridge.

Cavalry You will be on the right of the front area, next to the ravine, between artillery and the sutlers.

Civilian/Mixed Camp Will be at the back of the front area, past the footbridge. You may camp from the trees on the right to the fence on the left near the road.

The complete battle will be fought both days (not half and half as before) so bring plenty of powder.

Safe travels,

Sgt Major or whomever is lucky enough to fill your shoes in case of your absence,
I am requesting at this time that enough men be assigned from the ranks to pull guard duty on the Colonels quarters as well as picket duty on the bridge.
1st Sgts. are to report to my camp with your pickets so they can be recorded into the records before being escorted to their assigned positions. Make sure that they have been taught how and who to challenge and to not quit their piece. (weapon)
Deserters will be shot without the benefit of a court-martial, as well as you bummers who get caught picking the bodies of the dead.
As I am a most honest provost, bribes will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Vision juice and cigars are always acceptable to my tastes as well as the occasional fry bread delicacy

Exciting Announcement!

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Robert Szabo, a well known wet plate collodion artist, will be at River's Bridge this year...unless big rain happens, but that is not predicted at this time.

If you are in need of a good image be sure to visit him. Get your pards together and share the cost then draw for the original (copies to all of course).

Safe travels to all,

The event is in Bamberg County so I would suggest you call the Sheriff's office at 803-245-3011.

One of our non-camping members lives about 4 miles away, Mr & Mrs Boyer Fee, and their number is 803-267-2380. You may call them at a decent hour but please limit any late night calls to TRUE EMERGENCIES or call the sheriff's department!

Also, Robert Szabo cancelled and will not be attending.

At 3am that Friday morning, I developed the stomach virus. It was AWEFUL! Hope to try Rivers Bridge again next year.
